The civil ceremony in Italy is simple, charming and informal and lasts about 20 minutes. There is scope to personalise as much as you like. We can organise musicians – perhaps a string quartet, harpist, violinist or pianist to accompany your ceremony. Our wedding organiser will be on hand throughout to make sure that all runs smoothly. Should you wish to include a short reading during your ceremony this is absolutely fine, just let us know at your welcome meeting and we will let you know at what point during the ceremony this can be. Also if you do have any personal words that you would like to say to each other then this is also possible during the ceremony and we will advise you at what point this will be, we are just not able to change the format of the civil ceremony as we need to follow this by Italian Law.
Two witnesses are required at a civil ceremony and this can be members of your family or friends. The witnesses must be 18 years old or more. Should you wish to marry just the 2 of you then no problem at all as we can provide witnesses for you at a small cost. A wedding certificate is issued after your civil ceremony and you may have this before you leave Italy or it may be sent to your home address, it will depend on the venue. The wedding certificate is recognised in the UK and can be used to change your name/passport etc. It is an international certificate that is issued.
